My youngest brother upgraded and massively regretted it. I had to help him switch back to 7. Ball-ache.

When it works, it is a gamble as to whether you will be lucky. In my case it was truly awful, give a stable 8.1 any day!

If you were running on Win7 I would leave it alone
However, Win8 & Win8.1 are hopeless (8.1 slightly better than 8) are both pretty hopeless (which is why Win10 is a free download)
I would do a back up & then download Win10 (it's miles better than Win8.1)
